SACS Standard 9-Citizenship

Standard 9 is called Citizenship.
In order to prepare for the Quality Assurance Review we must engage in a reflective process known as a self study. As a stakeholder of Edgewater High School we would like to solicit your opinion about Edgewater’s performance. Click here to see the page that describes the Citizenship standard and the indicators that define it.

What do we need you to do?
Ø Look through each of the indicators and rank the ones you feel knowledgeable about using the scale provided (Evident, Somewhat Evident, or Not Evident).
Ø Provide any specific comments that you can make about the indicators.
Example: “ 8.3-Solicits the knowledge and skills of parents to enhance the work of the school”.
A sample parent/student response might be:
8.3 Evident-parents are invited in as guest speakers such as during the annual Teach In
event held each November.

You do not have to sign your name, though we would encourage you to do so.
Thank you!

9.2 Evident

EHS has numerouc clubs and athletic teams that have leadership roles that students can assume.

In addition, we have a thriving student government association that consistently provides leadership for our student body.

9.2 Evident
students are given opportunities in class and in clubs to take a leadership role. EST program utilizes group work and projects where students must lead and delegate. Student Government is very active making decisions for the whole student body and learning parlimentary procedure.Yearbook and newspaper is another example. Other athletic organizations and academic clubs also provide numerous leadership opportunities. We have so many diverse clubs and organizations there is something for everyone.

Many school activities encourage participation in citizenship in our school and the community. The SGA actvities, the Greenup Orlando Project, the blood drive, the many after school activities provided by the various clubs elicit students to become part of the school and community.

Edgewager High School provides students to demonstrate their skills in the classroom and through associated activites on many levels. Club, sports, and leadership activites are available to all students. Edgewater High School has 25 sports activites alone for all students. Nearly 80% of our teachers sponsor student activities.
